For 8 burgers:
3 tablespoons ground flaxseed
400 g of cooked beans
1 cup (250 ml) grated carrot
1/3 cup (75 l) chopped parsley
2 large cloves of chopped garlic
1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped onion
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
3/4 cup (175 ml) ground oatmeal
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon cumin
3/4 teaspoon salt
pepper as desired
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius, place the baking paper on the baking tray.
In a cup, mix freshly ground flax and 1/3 cup of warm water. Allow 10 minutes to thicken.
In a bowl, mash the drained beans. I have already tried various utensils and found that beans are easiest to crush by hand. 🙂 Add all the ingredients and concentrated flax.
Form 8 balls and flatten them gently.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, turn the burgers carefully and bake for another 15 minutes.
As vegetarians we have experimented with a variety of patties, mostly based on different vegetables mixed with a core of potatoes. To cater to the large population of vegetarians, even McDonald’s has multiple veggie burgers on their menu in India. Adding beans sounds like a good possibility.
